Retold vs Extended Edition: Key Differences
Age of Mythology Retold is a full remaster built on the Phoenix engine, not a simple HD texture pack. Extended Edition (EE) is the 2014 Steam update of the original 2002 game. Most cheat codes carry over, but several important differences affect how cheats work.
Cheat Code Differences
The biggest cheat-related changes in Retold:
- Retold codes are case-insensitive. EE requires ALL CAPS.
- New codes: DEVASD, GREEK TO ME, N.D. NILE, OF NORSE NOT!, HOTLANTIS, KRO NO!, BIG PROMO, ZAP EM, FOOTY
- EE-exclusive codes: NINJACONNOR, WRATH OF CYCLONE, POWERS FROM DIYU (not in Retold)
- Cheats enabled by default in Retold single-player
Graphics and Gameplay
Retold features fully remade 3D assets, modern UI, controller support, and Xbox cross-play. EE keeps the original BANG! engine visuals with updated textures. For new players, Retold is the definitive version.
